Carers BreaksCarers’ Breaks Scheme If you are a carer of an adult under 65 with a mental health problem, you may be able to have a break or a holiday with or without the person you care for. Who can make an application? The Care Coordinator, or Carers' Assessment Worker or other professional involved, on your behalf. Kiloran Trust
The kiloran Trust is a registered charity and offers carers a break from Monday - Saturday in our West London house, which is informal, friendly, warm and relaxed. All meals are provided.They know how difficult caring for someone can be, and how important it is for carers to spend time looking after themselves as well. When a carer has the chance for some respite, it is an ideal opportunity to spend some time at Kiloran. The cost is subsidised and is currently £250 for a Monday- Saturday break, which includes en suite bedrooms and meals. Sitting ServiceThe sitting service allows carers to take a break whilst the cared-for person remains in their home with a trained person who will look after them.A session can be from 2 to 8 hours. The service is available from 8.00am to 11.00pm, 7 days a week.These services are provided by registered agencies whose staff have received training to ensure that they can provide the appropriate level of care in your absence.A sitter provides the companionship, support, personal care and assistance which would normally be provided by their carer. This might include accompanying the person on a visit or to an appointment, short walks, conversation, reading, games and personal care as required during the break.Examples of activities include:-
Any costs associated with the trips/visits will be recharged to you. You will be responsible for any entry of admission costs incurred and also any mileage costs.
